What happens if I restore my iPod?

Will my apps change? I've had the Smurfs Villiage since February and I've accomplished a lot on it but when I try to open it sometimes the app will go but then close back to Home. Plus will I lose my music? So what are the gains and loses of restoring an iPod Touch 4g?
