I need US passport help.?

My wife and I applied for a passport in February of this year. Hers came in the mail after a couple of weeks. As for mine I still haven't received it yet. I have checked the status online and called a few times all they will say is its currently being processed. We have a cruise coming in september I'm starting to get a little worried since its taken 4 months already. I won't go on the cruise without it in case we have to come home in case of emergency. Does anyone know what steps I can take to get it or find out how much longer its going to take. Or since I put my travel dates on the application if they will get it to me by then.
