Companies collaborations and the chance of a lawsuit in the future?

I am currently doing research on how factors like spatial distribution and mediating agents affect business collaborations and a question that I was just wondering was that if there is a chance of a company to file a law suit against a company that it collaborated with in the past?? Just wanted to know what you guys thought and if you think yes, why would that be? Thanks!
